He was predeceased by: his parents, Odell Lee Fitzgerald and Blanche Rice Fitzgerald McLain; his wife Nancy Roberts Fitzgerald; and his sisters, Betty Fitzgerald Brookshier and Jeanette Fitzgerald Overstreet.
He is survived by: his daughters, Wanda Fitzgerald, Teri Fitzgerald Hubbard and Cindy Fitzgerald Elliott (Larry); his sister Janet Fitzgerald Powers (Larry); his granddaughters, Taylor Hubbard (Danny) and Rebecca Hubbard (Austin); his great grandchild Colton Cheek; his siblings-in-law, Larry Roberts (Debbie), Richard Roberts (Sherry), Gerald Jones and Dorothy "Dot" Miller (Randy); and his close friend Dottie Ellis. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Tuesday, April 1st 2025 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Updike Funeral Home & Cremation Service (1140 W Lynchburg Salem Turnpike, Bedford, VA 24523). A funeral service was held on Wednesday, April 2nd 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Updike Funeral Chapel (1140 W Lynchburg Salem Turnpike, Bedford, VA 24523). A burial was held on Wednesday, April 2nd 2025 at 11:45 AM at the Greenwood Cemetery (1311 Park St, Bedford, VA 24523).
