He was predeceased by: his parents, Allen Edward Witt and Pearl Virginia Myers Witt; his wife Joy May Wilkerson Witt; and his brother Clay Witt. He is survived by: his brother Allen E. Witt, Jr.; his nieces, Judy Witt, Dale Miller and Kathy Tinnell; and his sister-in-law Mary Bondurant.

A funeral service was held on Monday, December 30th 2024 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Updike Funeral Chapel (1140 W Lynchburg Salem Turnpike, Bedford, VA 24523). A graveside service was held on Monday, December 30th 2024 from 12:00 PM to 12:30 PM at the Greenwood Cemetery (1311 Park St, Bedford, VA 24523).
