He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert Lesley Keyes and Evelyn Martin Keyes; his wife Jacqualin Kidd Keyes; and his siblings, Billy Keyes, Melvin Keyes and Frances Lewis.

He is survived by: his children, Shelly Gregg (Jimmy) of Bedford, Todd Keyes of Bedford and Barry Keyes of Lynchburg; his grandchildren, Holley Velek (Philip), Megan Chen (David), Cameron Gregg (Tamie), Hannah-Grace Keyes, Bryson Witt and Jordan Arrington; and his brothers, Aubrey Keyes (Janie) of Lynchburg and Sonny Keyes of Rustburg. He is also survived by five great-grandchildren.
