She was predeceased by: her parents, James Atkinson and Nannie Sue Atkinson (Johnson); her husband Boyd Ruff; her brothers, James Harden Atkinson (Jim) and Robert Marshall Atkinson (R. M.); and her brother-in-law Frank J. Smith.
She is survived by: her siblings, Marietta Smith (Atkinson) and Gerald R. Atkinson; her children, Teresa Whitworth, Lynn Witt (Billy) and Jennifer Baldwin (Terry); her grandchildren, Tanya Whitworth, Christy Witt, Michelle Gilliam (Roger), William Witt and Tasia Mitchell; her great grandchildren, Matthew Whitworth, Morgan Witt, Madison Sims, Alison Sims, Mark Whitworth, Kaden Witt and Harleigh McGuire; her cousin Phyllis Lane; and her caregivers, Lynn, Jennifer, Christy, Morgan, Jennifer M., Dr. Linda Beahm and Dr. James Thompson. She is also survived by nephews, nieces.
Visitation was held on Thursday, January 2nd 2025 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Word of Life Evangelical Church (912 Burks Hill Rd, Bedford, VA 24523). A funeral service was held on Thursday, January 2nd 2025 at 12:00 PM at the same location. A burial was held on Thursday, January 2nd 2025 at 1:15 PM at the Virginia Memorial Park (11490 Forest Rd, Forest, VA 24551).
