He was predeceased by: his parents, Lewis Neal Abbott, Sr. and India Virginia Dooley Abbott. He is survived by: his siblings, Lewis Neal Abbott, Jr. and Sylvia Jacobs (Doug); his nephews, Greg Abbott and Bruce Jacobs; and his niece Cristy Garver.

“Dean was my first city boyfriend. I use to write in my books Linda Lynch Abbott. He came to visit my cousin and me at my Grandma Martin's in Bedford. I thought he was the sweetest most handsome boy I had ever seen. I lost touch with him until I went to work with Sylvia and then I found him again. He still was the sweetest and most handsome youing man. I enjoyed talking to Dean over the years. He always made me laugh. I know these last few years Lewis took really taken good take of him.”
