She was predeceased by: her parents, Virgil Adkins and Irene Bowman Adkins; her mother-in-law Mildred Perdue Thomason; and her brother Harry Adkins. She is survived by: her siblings, Farrell Adkins, Alma Dunn, Shelvia Chandler, Donald Adkins and Marshall Adkins; her husband Michael Thomason of Bedford, VA; her children, Michael J. Thomason (Yuki) of Bedford, VA and Denise Shields (Darian) of Blue Ridge, VA; her sister Gayle Horn of Princeton, WV; and her friends, Julie and John Mekosh of Clayton, NC. She is also survived by many brothers and sisters in-law, numerous nieces and nephews, and countless dear friends.
The family has requested that in lieu of flowers to honor Dolly's memory, donations in her name can be made to Gentle Shepherd Hospice, 6045 Peter's Creek Road, Roanoke, VA 24019.
