He was predeceased by: his parents, Wirt Goff Smith and Violet Gray McCray; his wife Beverly Elaine Parker; his daughter Monette Elaine Shely; and his siblings, Kemp, Gayle, Elsie, Madeline, Jean, Virginia and Mary Lee.
He is survived by: his daughters, Diane Murray (Bucky) and Kimberley Boley (Robert); and his grandchildren, Eric Murray (Jodi), Lisa Murray (Kim), Karen Murray (Travis), Leon Shely (Claire), Jennifer Holmes (Kenny) and Sean Robbins (Nicole). He is also survived by fourteen great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, donations in his name may be made to Wounded Warrior Project or St. Jude Children's Hospital.
