He is survived by: his wife Sharon Simpson; his sons, Colonel James E. Simpson, Jr. and Jeffrey S. Simpson; his granddaughters, Delaney Day and Ruth Avery Simpson; and his daughter-in-law Carmen Cateriano Simpson.
