He is survived by: his wife Haley Hughes Hairston; his children, Walter Hairston, Jr. of Bassett and Mary Hairston Smith of Bassett; his grandsons, Walter Trey Hairston, Isaiah Lee Hairston and Landon Cash Hairston; and his siblings, Lillie Mae Hairston (Robert), Virginia Easley (Maynard) of Bassett, Grace Ann Taylor (Wilson) of White Plains and Terry Hairston (Laurie) of White Plains. He is also survived by other relatives and friends.
