He was predeceased by: his parents, Philip S. Hairston and Clessie Hairston; and his siblings, Dorothy H. Stuart, Macie H. Young, Telis Hairston, Ulysees E. Hairston, Johnnie Hairston, Joe L. Hairston, Howard D. Hairston, Matthew M. Hairston and Phillip E. Hairston.
He is survived by: his wife Virginia Louise Hairston; his children, Chineta "Gee" Hairston, Monica Roy, Poindexter Hairston (Racheal) and Robert Burton (Kayla); his siblings, Elizabeth H. Johnson, Virginia H. Harley (John), Ruby H. Eggleston (Lewis) and William Benny Hairston; and his close friends, Cathy, Jack Shively and Rachel Dillard. He is also survived by 15 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
Visitation was held on Thursday, November 21st 2024 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Bassett Funeral Service (3665 Fairystone Park Hwy, Bassett, VA 24055). A funeral service was held on Thursday, November 21st 2024 at 12:00 PM at the same location. A burial was held on Thursday, November 21st 2024 at the Colonel Hairston Family Cemetery.
