It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Shirley Martin Rutherford of Bassett, Virginia, born in Franklin, Virginia, who passed away on September 27, 2021, at the age of 85, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Ervin Matthew Martin and Erma "Blanche" Atkins Martin; her husband Rev. Thomas G. Rutherford; and her siblings, Shelby Jean Vest, Mack Martin and Frank Martin.
She is survived by: her children, Cheryl Lackey (Cletus), Melissa Wright (Leon) and Thomas Matthew Rutherford. She is also survived by seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
