We are sad to announce that on October 12, 2020 we had to say goodbye to Richard Rakes of Bassett, Virginia, born in Martinsville, Virginia. You can send your sympathy in the guestbook provided and share it with the family.

He was predeceased by: his parents, Richard Earl Rakes and Jeroline Archer Rakes. He is survived by: his siblings, Carlton Rakes (Kathy) of Wirtz, Carmen Joubert of Lumberton, NC and Carla Hankins of Raleigh, NC; his nephew Jean Paul Joubert; and his niece Christina Joubert. He is also survived by many cousins, aunts and uncles.

In lieu of flowers, his family suggests that contributions be made in his honor to your local SPCA, Hospice or food bank.
