With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Hilda Mitchell McAlexander of Bassett, Virginia, who passed away on November 20, 2024 at the age of 86. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Harry O. Mitchell and Rachel Shelton Mitchell; her husband Haywood E. McAlexander; her daughter Debra McAlexander Chaney; and her siblings, Troy Mitchell, Frances McAlexander and Hazel Vaughan.
She is survived by: her daughter Sarah McAlexander Turner (Posey) of Collinsville; her grandchildren, Jonathan Chaney (Nikki) of Mt. Holly, NC, Christopher Turner (Brandie) of Vinton, Amanda Chaney of Martinsville and Chelsea Turner of Collinsville; and her great grandchildren, Sheridan Chaney, Amara Turner and Christopher Turner. She is also survived by nieces, nephews.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 26th 2024 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Bassett Funeral Service (3665 Fairystone Park Hwy, Bassett, VA 24055). A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, November 26th 2024 at 12:00 PM at the same location. A burial will be held on Tuesday, November 26th 2024 at the Fairystone Baptist Church (82 Fairystone Church Lp, Stuart, VA 24171).
