With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Hazel Ann Handy of Bassett, Virginia, born in Henry County, Virginia, who passed away on October 30, 2022 at the age of 86. Leave a sympathy message to the family on the memorial page of Hazel Ann Handy to pay them a last tribute.

She was predeceased by: her parents, Raymond Spencer and Belle Spencer; her husband Howard Handy; her sisters, Barbara Simmons and Nancy Bowman; and her niece Jeannie Kendrick.

She is survived by: her children, Teresa Bowman Reed (Mike), Deborah Handy Ashworth (Joe) and Nash Bowman, Jr.; her grandchildren, Jessica Ashworth, Joeleana Hutchens of Taylor Walker, T. J, Reed and Tony Branch; her nieces, Susan Bartlett, Rebecca Ferguson and Dixie Fitzgerald; her nephew Mike Branch; and her sister Sharon Byrd. She is also survived by eight great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, Hazel's family requests memorial contributions be made to: Men's or Women's Group of Mount Hermon, 144 Mount Hermon Church Road, Bassett, VA 24055.
