With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Garland Nester Emerson of Bassett, Virginia, born in Pilot, Virginia, who passed away on April 24, 2021 at the age of 92. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Ophus B. Emerson and Matha Nester Emerson; and his wife Dorcas Dickinson Emerson. He is survived by: his children, David Emerson (Dee Dee) of Danville, VA, Jennifer Gauldin (Garfid) of Ridgeway, VA and Laurie Phillips (Paul) of Windsor, VA; his grandchildren, Bradley Emerson, Andrew Emerson, Evan Blunt, Erin P. Guimoye and Adrienne P. Carter; and his great grandchildren, Alana Emerson, Carmen Guimoye, Clover Emerson and Isaiah Guimoye.
