It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Claude Allen Cobler of Bassett, Virginia, born in Martinsville, Virginia, who passed away on October 29, 2022, at the age of 94, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Jack Cobler and Bessie Cobler; his wife Beatrice Adams Cobler; his siblings, Doug, Wilson, Robert, Elwood Cobler, Janie, Juanita and Martha Cobler; and his granddaughter Ashley Cassell.
He is survived by: his siblings, Jackie Turner, Sue Merriman, Maggie Plaster and Daniel Cobler; his sister-in-law Roberta Sword; his children, Allen Cobler, Jeanie McVay (Chris McVay) and Janice Foley (John Foley); his grandchildren, Daniel Cassell, Jason McVay, Kelly Maser, Ted Crowe, David Crowe, David Foley and Daniel Foley; his grandchildren-in-law, Crissa, Alex, Olivia, Ivanna, Stephanie and Ema; and his great grandchildren, Blaine, Archer, Grace and John. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Dad was a practical man and would appreciate that in lieu of flowers to consider donations instead to Fork Mountain Rest Home at 2925 Fork Mountain Road, Rocky Mount, VA 24151.
