He was predeceased by: his parents, Richard Pelton and Rachel Hove Dean. He is survived by: his wife Willene "Billie" Dean; his brother Richard Dean (Julie) of Barhamsville; his children, A. J. Dean (Belinda) of West Point, Augie Dean of Barhamsville and Heather Hudson (Jamie) of Quinton; and his grandchildren, Matthew Waller Tamplin, Lyz Dean, Audrey and Olivia Hudson.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Tabernacle Memorial Association, 22051 Tabernacle Road, Barhamsville, VA. 23011.
