He was predeceased by: his parents, John Morgan and Eunice Coleman Sykes; his sister Mary Lou Stiltner (Harold Sykes); and his nephew Christopher Sykes Estep. He is survived by: his significant other Sandra Kay Cole of Bandy, VA; his sons, Russell "Rusty" Sykes (Melissa) of Hurley, VA and Shannon Sykes (Pamela) of Virgie, KY; his stepchildren, Rodney Dotson of Bluefield, VA, Jessie Dotson of Beckley, WV and Laura Cline of Beckley, WV; his sister Della Estep Sykes of Grundy, VA.; his grandchildren, Rusty Sykes, Tayten Sykes, Landon Sykes, London Sykes, Evan Sykes Chloe Sykes, Lilly Cline and Skyler Dotson; his great grandchild Emory Ella Sykes; and his friends, Hubert "Wild Man" McCoy, Shawn Cole and Dillard Mullins.
