He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert Sr. Burns and Stella Merle Burns (Waugh); his sister Naomi Grace Burns; and his grandparents, Thomas, Leta Folks Burns, Lonnie and Matilda Rucker Waugh.
He is survived by: his sister Patricia "Patty" Clark (Steve) of Covington; his caregiver Rembert "Wayne" Burns (Julie Meadows) of Warm Springs; his nephews, Brett Clark of Hot Springs, Stevie Clark (Brittani) of Lexington and Cameron Burns of Warm Springs; his great-niece Brinsley Clark of Lexington; and his friends, Jennifer Vess, Yvonne Ryder, Kenny Woodzell, Ben Whited, Richard "Dickie" Criser, Grayson, Barbara, Ray Shifflett, Shirley Puffenbarger and Fern Plecker.
