Though Joyce Brenda Carter may have slipped beyond the veil of mortality, her essence lingers like a faint fragrance in the air, a lingering reminder of the beauty and complexity of the human experience.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Everett Carter and Viola Hairston Carter; her husband Henderson Martin; her son Derril Watkins; and her siblings, Elizabeth Stokes, James Carter, Richard Carter and Floyd Carter.
She is survived by: her former husband Melvin Watkins, Sr.; her children, Antoinette Reese and Melvin Watkins, Jr.; and her sister-in-law Sue Bantlis. She is also survived by grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
Visitation was held on Thursday, January 2nd 2025 from 1:30 PM to 2:00 PM at the Evangelical Holiness Church (17340 Martinsville Hwy, Axton, VA 24054). A funeral service was held on Thursday, January 2nd 2025 at 2:00 PM at the same location.
