He is survived by: his children, LaDonn Helms Witt, Doreen Helms Bradley (Michael), Carolyn Locklear (Graham) and Richard Dean Helms (Diane); his siblings, Cynthia "Cindy" Haden (Clark), Teresa King (Cloyd), Sue Leftwich (Rodney), Rose Crowder (Steve), Herbert Helms (Pat) and David Helms, Sr. (Linda); and his grandchildren, Amber Epling, Justin Rea (Tabitha), Devin Rea (Emily), Chelsey Carter (TC), Danielle Vipperman, Stefani Bradley, Ashleigh Bradley and Joshua Bradley. He is also survived by numerous great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and numerous nieces, nephews.
