Edward Daniel McCarron Jr. Obituary
Ed was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Rita, and his younger brother, Robert (Bob). He leaves behind his wife, Betsy Collins-McCarron; three children and their spouses, Mary and Scott, Dan and Michele, and Christine and Michael; six grandchildren, Brandon, Cody, Mac, Jake, Kyle, and Courtney; and two great-grandchildren, Brayden and Declan; his sister-in-law Patricia, his nephew and niece, Bob (Heather) and Rebecca; and his brother, George (MaryAnn).
Ed grew up in Pennsylvania and the Jersey Shore. He attended Malvern Preparatory School and the University of Notre Dame. After college, he proudly served with the United States Marine Corps. He was famous for saying "Once a Marine, always a Marine!". While serving at Quantico, he met and married his wife, Rita. Ed used to say that he started in Virginia and ended up back in Virginia. After leaving the military, Ed spent his professional career with IBM, his career spanning almost 33 years. Ed was a devout Catholic and a beloved member of St. Ann's Catholic Church in Ashland.
A visitation will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, January 15, 2025. at St. Ann's Catholic Church, 105 S. Snead Street in Ashland, Va. 23005. A funeral Mass will follow at 11 a.m.
