He is survived by: his spouse Georgie Mae Cathey; his children, Karen Leigh, John Ottenberg, Darren Leaton, Maureen Sheridan, Kimberly Leann and Jon Kaminer; and his grandchildren, Stephen Ryan Leaton Cathey, Karrie Leigh Ottenberg, Ryan Connor Cathey, Jacob Leaton Kaminer, John Edward Ottenberg III, Brandon Michael Kaminer, Michael Leaton Ottenberg and Taylor Grace Kaminer.
