He was predeceased by: his parents, Wolcott Edward Lay and Harriet Harmon Deems Lay; and his siblings, Wolcott Jr., Richard (Laura), Daniel, Francis (Carlyn), Dominic (Dorothy "Dotty"), Dorothy "Sue" and Donald (Virginia).
He is survived by: his wife Betsy; his children, Alesia Starnes Daley, Denise Lade (Ian), Michael John (Pamela) and Cheryl Powell (Kevin); his grandchildren, Sean Starnes (Telena), Samantha Moore (Andrew), Brianna Merrill, Trevor Starnes, Jacob Lade, Cecelia Sanders (Jonathan) and Benjamin Lay; and his great grandchildren, Evea Starnes, Seth Butler, Noah, Brady Merrill, Olivia and Emma Sanders. He is also survived by numerous family members including nieces, nephews, grand and great grand nieces and nephews, and cousins.
