It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Calvin Agie Childress (Arrington, Virginia), born in Appomattox, Virginia, who passed away on August 7, 2020, at the age of 85, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, John William Childress, Sr. and Lena Burks Childress; his former wife Vernelle Smith Childress; and his siblings, AnnaBelle Bryant, Virginia Bryant, Esther McCormick, Elizabeth Moore, Clifford "Buck", John William, Jr. and Jeremiah "Pie" Childress.
He is survived by: his wife Sharon; his daughters, Esther Elliott (Mark) of Concord, Jennifer Sharpe (Norman) of Amherst and Angela Dodd (Mark Wheeler) of Amherst; his grandchildren, Robert Blake Johns (Starla Brooks), Jackson Dodd, Gavin Sharpe, Mia Vanags, Micah Vanags, William Vanags, Ian Vanags, Jordan Elliott, Jarrett Elliott and Logan Elliott; his great grandchild Robert Ezra Johns; and his close friend Dale Shrock. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
