It is with great sadness that we announce the death of William Plaxico Whitesides Jr. (Arlington, Virginia), who passed away on May 1, 2020, at the age of 90, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, William Plaxico Whitesides, Sr. and Martha Alexander Whitesides; his sister Doris Whitesides Reeves; and his nephew Davis Whitesides (Demain Donley Whitesides). He is survived by: his children, Edward William (Barbara) of Wilmington, NC, Katherine Fristoe (Jamie) of Atlanta, Georgia, Doris Stone (Don) of York, PA, Sarah Bock (Lee) of Vienna, VA and Robert Alexander (Robin) of Norcross, Georgia.; his grandchildren, Keenan, Boyce, Tucker, Carson, Stephen, Sarah, Elizabeth, Hope, Lucy, Jay, Lydia, Martha, Mary Rose, Christopher, Kate, Sam, Andrew, Alex, Eleanor and Caroline; his great grandchildren, John, Henry, Sam and Liam; his brother James D. "Dave" Whitesides (Dottie) of Bristol, Tennessee; his nieces, Martha Workman and Emy Scoville of Chapel Hill; and his nephew Will Whitesides of Bristol, Tennessee.. He is also survived by five children, twenty grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.
He died at his home in Arlington, Virginia on May 1, 2020, a victim of the global COVID-19 pandemic.
