He was predeceased by: his former wife Jacquelyn Burchfield Smoak (Jackie) of St. Augustine; and his siblings, Elaine Irons, John Shugart, Anita Burchfield and Joseph Burchfield.

He is survived by: his wife Beverly Bodiford Smoak; his son William G. K. Smoak (Bill); his granddaughter Jacquelyn Faye Smoak of Tampa, FL; and his siblings, Glenn Manford Smoak (Rita) of Port Charlotte, FL, Peggy Shugart of St. Augustine, Rick Burchfield (Robin) of St. Augustine, David Burchfield (Susan) of Gainesville, Teri Hopkins (Steve) of Gainesville and Anita Shanklin (Rich) of Ormond Beach, FL. He is also survived by loving nieces, nephews.

When COVID hit everyone, Bill and Beverly did not hibernate, but Bill acquired bicycles for them, and they began a new chapter in their love of the outdoors as they took the bikes along with them on their fly-fishing travels.
