With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Matilda J. Smithers (Arlington, Virginia), who passed away on July 16, 2021 at the age of 91. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was loved and cherished by many people including: her parents, Matilda McLeod Robinson and E. Ralph James of Hampton, VA.; her husband Colonel Sam Smithers, Jr.; her children, Robin (Alan Jones) of Cary, NC and Jim (Gina Smithers) of Fairfax, VA.; her sister Ann Wallace Buxton of Vienna, VA; her grandchildren, Aubrey Jones Lee, Joshua Smithers, Samuel Jones, Jon Smithers and Jared Smithers; and her great grandchildren, Samuel Townes Lee and Sylvi Smithers.
