She was predeceased by: her parents, Arthur Monroe and Mary Hampton Boyer Shields of Ceres; her husband Carl E. Ashley of Bluefield; and her brother Arthur M. Shields (Lottie) of Ceres Road. She is survived by: her children, Carl E. Ashley Jr. (Melissa Bingmann) of Washington, DC, Boyer D. Ashley of Arlington, VA and Kelly S. Ashley (Courtney Vest Ashley) of Alexandria, VA; her granddaughters, Harper and Holland; her brother David H. Shields (Barbara) of Bluefield; and also, Carla Ashley Perry, Shane Ashley and David Ashley.
