He was predeceased by: his parents, Edgar John and Ruth Appel (Miller) of Washington, DC; and his sister Ruth Anne Appel of Washington, DC.. He is survived by: his sister Ruthie; his daughter Anne Marie Appel-Gibbens (David Gibbens) of Wilmot, NH; his grandchild Kirsten; his son Michael John Appel; his grandsons, Max and Eric; his sister Elizabeth Lexa (Appel) of Lafayette Hill; his nephew Frank Lexa; his great-nephews, Frank and Matthew of Rosemount, PA; his niece Elizabeth Wilson (David); his great-niece Frances of Bryn Mawr, PA; his nieces and nephews, Andy and Tracy Lexa (Middleton) of Lansdale, PA; his great-nieces and great-nephews, Lauren Crapanzano (Lexa), Ryan and Andrew; his niece Sharon Gutierrez (Lexa Galvin); and his children, Amanda and Alex Galvin.
