He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Edward Smith and Eleanor Smith; his wife Marie-France Smith of Falls Church; his children, Stephanie Whitaker of Arlington and Allen Smith of Arlington; his sister Joanne Henry of Athens, GA; his grandchildren, Katherine, Caroline, Colin, Emmett and Charlotte; and his sister Patricia Wyckoff of Washington, DC.. He was also cherished by his wife, children, and grandchildren.
Despite struggling with Alzheimer's in his later years, he never lost his love and excitement for time with family.
