He was predeceased by: his father Moir Elzevan; and his brother Robin Dale Atkins. He is survived by: his daughter Shannon; his son-in-law Kevin Simmons of Pilot Mountain; his sons, Daron (Kim Atkins) and Adam Atkins (Kristi Bourne) of Pilot Mountain; his granddaughters, Anna Simmons Lowe (Caleb) of Mount Airy and Emma Simmons of Pilot Mountain; his great grandchild Clara Lowe of Mount Airy; and his brothers, Dwight (Brenda Atkins) and Gary (Joan Atkins). He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
