He was predeceased by: his parents, Monroe Sawyers and Helen Bateman Sawyers; his wife Helen Smith Sawyers; his son Larry "Rocky" Sawyers; his siblings, Linda Dollyhigh and Arville Sawyers; and his brother-in-law Eddie Dollyhigh.
He is survived by: his brothers, Milford (Sonya Sawyers), Randall (Heidi Sawyers) and Gary (Lisa Sawyers); and his siblings-in-law, William Crab Smith, Judy Jackson, Bettie and Bernie Epperson. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
