He was predeceased by: his parents, Samuel Dalton and Lena Blanche Boyles Scales; his wife Lillian Ayers Scales; his brothers, Percy Ollie "Sonny" Scales, Robert Franklin "Bobby" Scales and Samuel "Sammy" Scales; and his brothers-in-law, Elwood "Red" Isley and Glenn Staples.
He is survived by: his daughters, Sandra Scales Thompson, Glenda Pack (Javier Martinez) and Delman Hawks; his grandsons, Brandon Hawks and Christopher Pack; his great grandchild Gracie Jolynn Pack; his sisters, Marion Isley and Nancy Staples; his sisters-in-law, Doris Scales and Peggy Scales; and his nephew Phillip Scales. He is also survived by many other nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Scales family to help with expenses.
