He was predeceased by: his parents, James Wesley and Mildred Blackmon Wall. He is survived by: his children, James Wall, II of Illinois, Melissa Wall Joyce (Scott) of Walnut Cove, Caleb Wall of Tennessee, Jacob Wall of Tennessee and Sarah Wall of Tennessee; and his siblings, Sherry Wall Hiatt (Phillip) of Mount Airy and Steve Wall of Mount Airy. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
