He was predeceased by: his parents, Hie Maddison and Sally Barnard Montgomery; his children, Judy Lou Montgomery, Glenn Montgomery and Steven Violette; and his brothers, Folger Lee Montgomery and Winfred Lester Montgomery.

He is survived by: his wife Marie Helen Montgomery; and his children, Linda Violette, Douglas Montgomery, Bruce Montgomery, Gerald Violette and Paul Violette. He is also survived by ten grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren; sisters.
