It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Bertha Harrell of Ararat, Virginia, who passed away on May 30, 2020, at the age of 96, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Henry Stroupe and Minnie Bateman Stroupe; her husband Earnest Porter Harrell, Sr.; her son Ronald Harrell; her grandchildren, Darlene Harold York and Mark Harrell; and her great grandchildren, Noel Burford and Natalie York.
She is survived by: her children, Clara Harrell, Louise (Randy Marsh), Brenda Rachels, Lena Dixon and Earnest Porter Harrell, Jr.; and her sisters-in-law, Earleen Stroupe and Mildred Stroupe. She is also survived by nineteen grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; numerous great-great-grandchildren.
Respecting the current limitations of numbers for public gatherings at this time (COVID-19), a graveside service will be held Tuesday, June 2, 2020, at 11:00 AM at Harrell Family Cemetery in Ararat, VA, with the Rev. Ray Fleming officiating.
