He was predeceased by: his parents, Obadiah McCoy, Sr. and Mattie McCoy Kidd; his son Andre'L. McCoy; his siblings, Martha Pankey, Phyllis Dunson (Nathaniel), Lois Scruggs (Henry), Peggy Hannah, Merry Bassett, Arnelle Hamlett (Richard) and Percy Kidd; his parents-in-law, Al W. Johnson and Henrietta P. Johnson; and his siblings-in-law, Mildred Williams (Clio), Herman Kelso, Michael Matthews and Al Fontaine Johnson.
He is survived by: his wife Lois J. McCoy; his daughter Katina M. Whorley (Ezra); his granddaughters, Antonia Whorley and Kristina Cummings; his sisters, Marion Kelso, Mable Kidd (Richard), Doretha Woolridge (Leroy), Beverly Kidd, Lucille Ferguson (Eddie) and Linda Johnson (Terry); and his siblings-in-law, Raymond Pankey, Haywood Hannah, Edwin Basset, Lonell Kidd and Yvonne Johnson (Roy). He is also survived by nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Viewing was held on Friday, January 31st 2025 from 1:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Jeffress Funeral Home and Cremation Service (304 Lusardi Dr, Brookneal, VA 24528). A funeral service was held on Saturday, February 1st 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Mt. Airy Baptist Church (167 Colemans Mill Rd, Gladstone, VA 24553). A burial was held on Saturday, February 1st 2025 at the same location.
