He was loved and cherished by many people including: his wife Mary Parsons; his parents, Joseph Burley Parsons and Faye Lorene Parsons; his siblings, Ginny Pearl Parsons, Snooky Parsons Boggs, Mark, Steve and Tex Parsons; his children, Virginia Beverly (Billy) of Pound, VA and James David Lee Parsons of San Fernando, CA; his grandsons, Aidan Cole Beverly and Ethan Parsons; his sisters, Peggy Lambert of Appalachia, VA., Liz Stidham of Appalachia, VA., Louella Sizemore of Appalachia, VA., Janice Parsons of Appalachia, VA. and Lona Grubb of Appalachia, VA.; and his close friends, Dave Kaylor and Matthew Wells.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Appalachia United Methodist Church and Haven of Praise of Appalachia.
