It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Barbara Jean Markland Sharpe of Appalachia, Virginia, who passed away on January 10, 2025, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Claude Markland and Emma Markland; and her brothers, Donnie Markland and Ronnie Markland. She is survived by: her husband Carroll Sharpe; her children, Cheryl Sizemore and Eddie Sharpe (Priscilla); her siblings, Darrell "Bubby" Markland (Louise), Jayne Osborne (Johnny) and Janet Harris (Roy); and also Mike Sampson. She is also survived by 4 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren; and 3 great-great grandchildren; also several nieces, nephews, and in-laws.
Visitation was held on Saturday, January 18th 2025 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at the Oak Grove Baptist Church (14 E 11th St N, Big Stone Gap, VA 24219). A funeral service was held on Saturday, January 18th 2025 at 1:00 PM at the same location.
