She was predeceased by: her parents, Malcolm Earl McIvor and Cornelia White McIvor; her aunt Minnie W. Carey (late James P. Carey); her husband William Gilbert Sutherland; her son Carey G. Sutherland; her grandson Ryan McConaghy; and her siblings, Margaret M. Hargis, Cornelia M. Overstreet, Barbara Ann Morris, Malcolm Earl McIvor, Jr. and J. C. McIvor.
She is survived by: her children, William M. Sutherland (Melissa) of Madison Heights and Leigh S. McConaghy (Sam) of Madison Heights; her daughter-in-law Alexandra Sutherland; her grandchildren, Richard Sutherland, William Sutherland, Bryce Sutherland, Jenny S. Zawitz (Dave), Molly Sutherland, Griffin McConaghy and Collin McConaghy (Trisha); and her pet Mario. She is also survived by eight great grandchildren.
