He was predeceased by: his wife Essie Johnson Maddox (Denie); his parents, Donald E. Maddox and Georgianna Sprouse Maddox; his sisters, Mildred Sale, Christine Trent, Florine Trent and Evelyn Eggers; and also Sophie.

He is survived by: his sons, Craig Maddox (Stephanie) of Amherst and Brandon Maddox (Casey) of Amherst; his grandchildren, Samantha Maddox Molden (Alex) of Amherst, Zack Maddox (Madison) of Amherst, Chase Maddox of Amherst and Emily Maddox of Amherst; his great grandchildren, Elijah Maddox, Emmarie Maddox, Elana Maddox, Lilliaunna Schall and Allie Molden; and his brothers, Elbert Maddox, Jimmy Maddox (Sharon) and Herbert Maddox (Brenda).
