It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Aaron Dewitt McCoy of Amherst, Virginia, who passed away on December 27, 2024, at the age of 89, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert Morton McCoy, Sr. and Flossie Ferguson McCoy; and his siblings, Baby Arlene McCoy, Betty McCoy Grooms, Robert Morton McCoy, Jr., Calvin McCoy, Lawrence McCoy, Edward McCoy and Mitchell McCoy.
He is survived by: his wife Mary J. McCoy; his children, Warren Dewitt McCoy, Joanne M. Davis and Laura Lynn McCoy; his grandchildren, Darius McCoy, Johnson and Brandi Johnson; his sisters, Ardelia Knight of Macedonia, Louise Lewis (Bobby) of Amherst, Virginia, Hilda Day of Roanoke and Beverly Jean McCoy Dunning of Lexington; and his caregiver Tracey Hamm. He is also survived by nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, January 4th 2025 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the Union Hill Baptist Church (1039 Union Hill Rd, Amherst, VA 24521). A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, January 4th 2025 at 1:00 PM at the same location.
