She was predeceased by: her parents, James E. Snead and Etta M. Snead (Wallace); her sister Juanita Davis; and her daughter-in-law Kim Swearengin. She is survived by: her siblings, Jimmy Snead and Debbie Lehner; and her nephews, Steven Swearengin and Allen Swearengin.

In lieu of flowers, Joan wished for donations to be made to Amelia Presbyterian Church.
