With heavy hearts, we announce the death of William Laon Smith of Alexandria, Virginia, who passed away on December 11, 2024 at the age of 84. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Thelma Lou Utt and William Quarterman Smith; his sister Bette Lou Whyte; and his wife Barbara Ann Wayland Smith. He is survived by: his siblings, Robert Smith and Beth Duncan; his children, Stacy Schul (Lex) and William Q. Smith II (Margot); his grandchildren, Heather Leese (Korey), Ryan Schul, Will Smith and Charlie Smith; and his great grandchildren, Eli and Teagan Leese.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to SOME (So Others Might Eat), an organization Bill actively supported.
