He was predeceased by: his parents, William Smith Banks and Frances File Banks; and his former wife Grace Wallace Banks. He is survived by: his children, Michele Bouvé Hoffman (Eric), Elizabeth Ashton Hawkins (Chris), Nancy Banks Eades (Allan) and Kathryn Banks Puckett (Brian); and his wife Ruth Smith Banks. He is also survived by seventeen grandchildren.
