It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Navy Rear Admiral Phillip Smith of Alexandria, Virginia, who passed away on December 2, 2024, at the age of 91, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Hoke Smith and Nina Diehl Smith. He is survived by: his wife Mary Evelyn Spencer of Milton, Florida; his children, E. Madeline Toolan (Robert), Drucilla D. Harrison (Cam) and Phillip D. Smith, Jr.; his grandchildren, Lauren Spivey Smith (Brad), Rachael G. Gualtiere (Tim) and Conor P. Toolan; his great grandchild Maeve Evelyn Gualtieri; his brother-in-law Dr. James Robert Spencer; and his cousin William Smith (Marty).
A memorial service was held on Saturday, December 14th 2024 at 2:00 PM at the Heritage Presbyterian Church (8503 Fort Hunt Rd, Alexandria, VA 22308).
