He was predeceased by: his parents, John Edward Gray Sr. and Blanche J. Gray; his wife Dorothy Eugenia Gray; and his siblings, William C. Gray, Richard E. Gray and Elnora A. Cheeks.

He is survived by: his daughters, Valeria Osei and Renie Elliott (Louis Elliott III); his pet Muffin; his granddaughters, Renia "Emily" Osei, Renie Osei, Lyndzey Elliott, Lauryn Elliott and Laura "Alex" Elliott; his grandmother Yaw Osei; his great grandchild Erik John Amanfo (Pennie-Rena); his sisters, Carolyn Moore and Arlene Benford; and his brother-in-law Wilbert Benford. He is also survived by cousins, nieces and nephews.
