He was predeceased by: his parents, Rumsey S. Light and Belva E. Light; and his daughter Mary Bernadette Light Hagen. He is survived by: his wife Bernadette A. Light; his son Rumsey S. Light, III (Lisa) of Purcellville; his siblings, Sylvia Hook of Michigan City, IN and Meredith'Kim'Light of Aldie; his grandchildren, Samantha Light Frye (James) of Gainesville, VA, Zachary Light of Yorktown, VA, Emma Catherine Light of Boston, MA, Charles and Jack Hagen of Charlotte, NC; and his uncle Galen Ellison (Pat) of Marshall, VA. He is also survived by two nieces, two nephews, many cousins, and many friends.
