He was predeceased by: his former wife Velma Kestel; his parent Griffin Thomas Rice; his brother Charles Lucas Rice; and his mother Eunice McFarland Rice of Reedville, Virginia.. He is survived by: his daughter Stacey Rice of Bend, Oregon; and his grandchildren, Thomas Gulick of Bend, OR, Olivia Gulick of Bend, OR and Terra Myers of Bend, OR. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews and many close friends.
